The Bothnian Sea is the southern part of the Bothnia Gulf, which in turn is the northernmost part of the Baltic Sea, between Finland and Sweden, connected with the Bothnian Bay via the Kvarken Sound, and the Baltic proper via Aland Sea and the Archipelago Sea, it features gradient salinity 0.4-8 ‰.
